Issue with Movable type

You might be getting forbidden or internal server error when calling “http://domain.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt.cgi???” on browser. The fix is as follows.

check the apache error and you might see this:

=======
Permission denied: /home/user/public_html/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable
=======

Make sure the permission of public_html is 755(Global accessible) instead of 750.

After you may still have issues like Internal server error. For that please confirm the the *.cgi files( mt.cgi, mt-cp.cgi etc) have executable permission, ie in the path “/home/user/public_html/cgi-bin/mt/”.

If not please give executable permission.

chmod +x mt*

You are done 🙂

Softaculous Error | “The INFO.XML file could not be found! Please report this to the Server Admin”

When you recently installed softaculous in server and after that you get the following error sometimes when you open softwares like wordpress, drupal, joomla etc in it

============
The INFO.XML file could not be found! Please report this to the Server Admin
============

This causes because the softaculous script might not be synchronized with server files. For that you need to manually run the cron built in softaculous. You can force CRON to run via some shell commands to imediately sychronize for the License Information or for Script Files.

For cPanel SSH to your server as root and enter following commands :

Root> /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/php /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/softaculous/cron.php

For Direct Admin SSH to your server as root and enter following commands :

Root> /usr/local/bin/php -d open_basedir=/ -d safe_mode=0 -d disable_functions=”” /usr/local/directadmin/plugins/softaculous/cron.php

For Plesk, ISPManager SSH to your server as root and enter following commands :

Root> php /usr/local/softaculous/cron.php

For InterWorx SSH to your server as root and enter following commands :

Root> /home/interworx/bin/php /usr/local/softaculous/cron.php

For H-Sphere SSH to your server as root and enter following commands :

Root> /hsphere/shared/php5/bin/php-cli -d open_basedir=/ -d safe_mode=0 -d disable_functions=”” /usr/local/softaculous/cron.php

This will force CRON to run and Softaculous will synchronize all necessary information.
